St. Andrews State Park is a local favorite, and it’s easy to see why. This beautifully preserved park offers something for everyone, from a calm lagoon perfect for swimming to a beachside stretch ideal for body surfing. One of my personal highlights is fishing off the jetties, where you might reel in Spanish mackerel, redfish, black drum, or even the occasional grouper or snapper. The park is well-equipped with restrooms, a small store for bait, snacks, and souvenirs, and even beach chair and umbrella rentals so you don’t have to haul your own gear.
As the day winds down, the sunset views from the park are stunning. With no bright city lights nearby, you get an unobstructed view of the natural beauty. If you’re looking for a quieter escape, Camp Helen State Park is another excellent option. It’s peaceful, scenic, and perfect for avoiding the crowds.
Looking for family-friendly fun? The area has plenty of attractions to keep kids entertained. Popular spots include the SkyWheel, Ripley’s Believe It or Not, Shipwreck Island Waterpark, Gulf World, The Upside-Down House, and several trampoline parks. You can also check out the batting cages or spend a few hours at Dave & Buster’s. There’s something for every age and interest, all within easy reach of your vacation rental.
